CASSIOPEIA GUTHRIE (SHE/HER/HERS)
An accomplished journalist, educator, and consultant with expertise in community relations, project management, experience/content design, curriculum writing, P-12 education, and higher education, Cassiopeia leverages storytelling to inspire the imperative: courageous, creative, equity-minded, and empowered communities ready to change the world. After years of balancing credits as actor, producer, costumer, and general manager in the San Diego theatre community, Cassiopeia returned to her roots in journalism in 2022, and has subsequently received San Diego Press Club Awards for Excellence in Journalism in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Cassiopeia has appeared on local television at CBS, NBC, ABC, and KUSI and her work can be found across a wide breadth of regional and national publications, but her reviews primarily appear at San Diego Story, San Diego Magazine, and On the Craft. She is a member of the San Diego Theatre Critics Circle, San Diego Press Club, and American Theatre Critics Association, and a judge for the annual Craig Noel Awards in San Diego.

Cassiopeia has a bachelor's in journalism, an executive MBA, training in storytelling and photojournalism from National Geographic, and a doctorate in educational leadership. Her research explores how political rhetoric influences teachers' affective responses and their perceptions of school climate. Cassiopeia is a school administrator and the CSUSM Center ARTES Faculty Fellow in Interdisciplinary Innovation. (Learn More)
