A K-12 credentialed educator and professional journalist, Dr. Cassiopeia Guthrie is committed to inspiring the imperative: courageous, creative, equity-minded, and empowered communities ready to change the world.

About

Dr. Cassiopeia Guthrie (she/her) is an educator, scholar, writer, and school leader whose work spans K–12 education, higher education, educational leadership, and arts journalism. She holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and currently serves as a high school Assistant Principal. She has also taught in university Teacher Education and Educational Administration programs, where she mentored and supervised credential candidates and graduate students preparing for careers in teaching and educational leadership. Alongside her work in education, she is an award-winning theatre critic and journalist whose writing explores theatre, arts, and culture throughout Southern California.

Grounded in an equity-centered, student-focused approach, Dr. Guthrie's work bridges research and practice across classrooms, leadership teams, district systems, university partnerships, and the broader cultural communities that shape learning. Drawing on experience as a classroom teacher, instructional leader, district curriculum and educational technology specialist, university faculty member, governance leader, and arts writer, she helps translate complex ideas into accessible, engaging narratives while supporting continuous improvement, educator growth, and student belonging.

Dr. Guthrie's research examines teachers' affective responses to political rhetoric and climate, threat rigidity in politically polarized environments, and the organizational conditions that influence educator development, instructional leadership, and university–secondary partnership programs. Beyond her research, she partners with school systems, county offices of education, nonprofit organizations, and community partners on educator development, program design, strategic communications, and continuous improvement initiatives. She presents regularly at regional and statewide conferences on educational leadership, teacher preparation, and organizational learning. Her writing on theatre and the arts has appeared in regional publications, where she brings the same curiosity, analytical lens, and appreciation for storytelling that characterize her work as an educator and researcher.
